The Alcohol and Drug Policy Commission (the ADPC) is established to coordinate Oregon’s priorities and policies related to alcohol and other drug prevention and treatment services.

The ADPC will recommend strategic action to:

  • Promote the effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Reduce unnecessary administrative requirements.
  • Improve client care.
  • Improve and ensure the fidelity of evidence-based treatment practices.
  • Improve alcohol and drug prevention and treatment programs.
  • Ensure the accountability of publicly funded programs.
  • Establish high-level, statewide performance measures for drug prevention and treatment.
  • Advance the science of alcohol and drug prevention and treatment.

Commissioners

The Commission is being reconstituted. The names of the Commissioners will be posted during September 2013. There will be twenty-eight Commissioners:

  • An elected district attorney
  • An elected county sheriff
  • An elected county commissioner
  • A representative of an Indian tribe
  • A provider of prevention or treatment services
  • A chief of police
  • An treatment researcher or epidemiologist
  • A criminal defense attorney
  • A representative of the health insurance industry
  • A representative of hospitals
  • An treatment professional experienced with people who have co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder
  • An prevention representative
  • A person in recovery from a substance use disorder
  • A representative of the business community
  • An alcohol or other drug prevention representative who specializes in youth
  • A person with expertise in IT systems used in complex intergovernmental or corporate settings
  • A State Senator
  • A State Representative
  • The Governor or the Governor’s designee
  • The Attorney General
  • The Director of the Oregon Health Authority
  • The Director of the Department of Corrections
  • The Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction (or designee)
  • The Director of Human Services
  • The Director of the Oregon Youth Authority
  • The chairperson of the Youth Development Division
  • The administrator of the Oregon Liquor Control Commission
  • A judge of the Circuit Court

Meetings of the Commission

The ADPC complies with the Oregon Public Meetings Law. Its meetings are open to the public. Members of the public may attend in person of may listen to meetings by telephone at (888) 636-3807. The access code is 417457.
