Manufactured Homes

homeownership & real estate

A manufactured home is one that is built in a factory before being transported to a site and installed. Manufactured homes must meet certain standards for quality, durability, and safety.

If you are considering the purchase of a manufactured home, you should be aware that the dealer must provide you with a purchase agreement before the sale. The purchase agreement must tell you the base price of the home, and must also list any optional products, services, upgrades, or extended warranties you choose to buy, along with any fees or earnest money you must pay.

The Attorney General has created a brochure for anyone considering the purchase of a manufactured home:

There is also a brochure available with important information for current owners of a manufactured home:

If there is a problem with your manufactured home that you cannot resolve with the dealer or manufacturer, contact the Attorney General’s Consumer Hotline at 1-877-877-9392 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or complete an online Consumer Complaint Form anytime.
