THE OREGON DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC)
Protecting our children is our highest priority. It is our sincere hope that this web-site will provide valuable information to kids, teachers and parents to help them combat the escalating threat of sexual crimes against our children by online predators.
With the creation of the ICAC Task Force, we are following aggressively a two-pronged approach to keep our kids safe:
If you would like information about setting up a training in your community, you have a number of options available. First, you should contact your local police agency. The chances are high that they already have partnered with our Task Force and have a person qualified to conduct trainings. You may also contact the Department of Justice ICAC program for assistance in setting up training.
- EDUCATION - Through outreach to our children, teens, parents and teachers. In cooperation with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Task Force is conducting trainings and distributing training materials to other qualified trainers throughout Oregon. These interactive programs will provide tools to increase awareness of the real dangers that exist on the internet, and provide concrete guidance to parents and educators for protecting our kids.
- OPERATION BLACK ICE - We are seeking out, through all lawful means, those who use the internet to commit sexual crimes against children, and punishing them to the fullest extent of the law. Like "black ice," they won't know we are there, until it's too late.
Working together, we can help make the internet a safe place for our kids to learn and play.
I hope you will join me and our team to achieve this critical objective.
