About Ellen F. Rosenblum
As part of an ongoing investigation centering on allegations of the purchase of untaxed tobacco products, members of the Tobacco Tax Compliance Task Force served three search warrants Friday morning in southwest Portland. No arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing.
Around the beginning of the year, information was directed to the task force from a New Jersey-based tobacco distributor of the sale of untaxed tobacco products to a family owner and operated business in the Portland area. The investigation led to search warrants being served today at the following three locations:
1140 SW Jefferson Street
1227 SW 11th Avenue
139 SW Broadway
These are family owned convenience store and smoke shop locations. Investigators seized over 20 cases of untaxed tobacco products and records.
The Tobacco Tax Compliance Task Force is comprised of representatives from the Oregon State Police, the Oregon Department of Justice, and the Oregon Department of Revenue.
