Attorney General Hardy Myers, upon hearing of the death of Oregon icon Les Schwab at a meeting of Attorneys General in Nevada, wanted to express his sympathy to the family and made the following statement:

"My parents and I moved to Prineville in 1951 when Les Schwab had his first and only store. He is one of the most successful business stories in Oregon history. I am proud to have been part of the community in which he began his great business."
