ATTORNEY GENERAL JOHN KROGER ANNOUNCES 2009 OREGON DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE HONORS ATTORNEYS

Attorney General John Kroger has selected five top flight young attorneys for the Honors Program at the Oregon Department of Justice.

The two-year Honors Program allows the Department of Justice to attract the best and brightest recent law school graduates who are interested in public service. The program gives the attorneys broad experience inside the department. Honors Program graduates often end up working in leadership positions at the Department of Justice or in other prominent public service jobs.

Jermaine F. Brown Jermaine F. Brown - A 2007 graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law, Jermaine is a clerk for Oregon Court of Appeals Judge Darleen Ortega. Jermaine edited the Journal of Environmental Law and Litigation and the Western Environmental Law Update. He graduated from Harvard University with a BA in Earth and Planetary Sciences

Laura Cadiz Laura Cadiz - A third-year student at Lewis & Clark Law School, Laura is the editor-in-chief of the Animal Law Review. She graduated from the University of Oregon with a BA in Journalism and worked as a reporter for the Baltimore Sun for six years.

Nate Carter Nate Carter - A 2007 summa cum laude graduate of Lewis & Clark Law School, Nate also graduated first in his class. Nate is a clerk for Oregon Supreme Court Justice Robert Durham. He graduated from Carleton College magna cum laude.

Justin Kidd Justin Kidd - A third-year student the University of California Berkeley School of Law, Justin is a Truman Scholar. He has an extensive work history in non-profit and public service. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Masters of Public Management. He earned a BA in Spanish and International Studies from the University of Denver.

Michelle E. Smith Michelle Smith - A magna cum laude graduate from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2008, Michelle was associate editor of the Environmental Law Review. A graduate of the University of Colorado, she is a clerk for Colorado Supreme Court Justice Gregory J. Hobbs.
