Attorney General John Kroger is warning about text messages that claim to be coming from Multnomah County urging Oregon consumers to call a telephone number to "unlock" their debit card.

These messages are being sent by identity thieves who are seeking to steal personal financial information.

The Attorney General's Consumer Protection Hotline received several complaints about the scam Friday afternoon.
