Fire Standard Compliant (Reduced Ignition Propensity) Cigarettes:
The State of Oregon recently enacted fire standard compliant (reduced ignition propensity "RIP") standards for all cigarettes sold in Oregon (ORS 476.755 to 476.790 and 476.995). To qualify for listing on the Oregon Tobacco Directory, all cigarettes must have received approval from the Oregon Fire Marshal's office. For questions about fire standard compliant (RIP) standards, please contact Anita Phillips at (503) 373-1540, ext. 264 or Anita.Phillips@state.or.us.
Due to the fire standard compliant (RIP) standards discussed above, as part of the 2009 annual certification process, all manufacturers will be required to submit updated packaging demonstrating compliance with the fire standard compliant (RIP) packaging/labeling requirements.
