The Confidential Advocacy Program at OHSU hosts a two-part series, presented by Ujima Community. This free webinar is intended for medical providers, medical students, supervisors, managers, human resources, advocates, and others who may interact with survivors of violence. Free continuing education credits will be provided to participants. Part one will take place November 16th, followed by part two on November 18th, both from 10am-12pm.

“This workshop will underscore the ways in which historical trauma and institutionalized/systemic racism have impacted Black women and girls. Workshop participants will delve into IPV and other forms of intersecting violence and examine how these multiple layers of violence impact and shape Black women’s and girls’ realities. Workshop participants will also explore and potentially critique both long-held and current narratives around Black women and girls, violence, and trauma, and the impact that these narratives have on survivors’ help-seeking abilities, strategies, and socialization.”

About Ujima Community: “Ujima is on the forefront of new training and outreach tools to reduce violence against and homicides of Black women. Ujima is a clearinghouse for research literature, webinars, national issue forums, regional trainings, community-specific roundtables, blogs, articles, and on-site technical assistance.”
