The Attorney General's Sexual Assault Task Force and Oregon Legislative Alliance to End Violence Against Women announce Sexual and Domestic Violence Awareness Day on Thursday, March 15 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Oregon State Capitol Building (900 Court Street NE, Salem, OR 97301).

Sexual and Domestic Violence Awareness Day provides an opportunity for those concerned with ending violence against women to meet with legislators and share information about the state of sexual and domestic violence services available in Oregon.   

Awareness Day activities include:

• 9:00 am – Front Steps, State Capitol comments:
  • Attorney General Hardy Myers
  • Brie Akins, AG's Sexual Assault Task Force Prevention Program Coordinator
  • Tony Ryan, Oregon Legislative Alliance to End Violence Against Women representative and other special guests
• Information and resource tables in the Capitol Rotunda on sexual and domestic violence issues and services in Oregon
• The 'Silent Witness Display', which has been used throughout the state and nationally to give voice to women who have been murdered by their partners or husbands
• 1:00 pm – Hearing Room 50, State Capitol:
  • Governor's Council on Domestic Violence public hearings
