The Oregon Department of Justice Charitable Activities Section will hold a meeting of the Bingo Advisory Committee on Thursday, August 30th at 10:00am. The meeting will be held in the 6th floor conference room of the 1515 Building, located at 1515 S.W. Fifth Avenue in Portland.
Committee members will be discussing required bingo rule changes due to the passage of HB 2009 by the 2001 Oregon Legislature.
Specifically, the Legislature made the following changes:
-
Licensees may now contract out their concessions operations to other organizations, including for profit entities.
-
The prize cap was raised from $1,500 to $2,500 per game and a licensee may offer prizes greater than $2,500, but not to exceed $10,000, twice in a license year.
-
The Department is authorized, on a temporary basis, to allow bingo game managers to work for more than one licensee in emergency situations.
A roster listing the members of the Bingo Advisory Committee is attached.
Please note that this is an advisory committee meeting only, and that while interested parties may attend, public comments will not be entertained. A public hearing and comment period will be scheduled subsequently to provide a forum for public participation.
The meeting location is accessible to persons with disabilities. A request for an interpreter for the hearing impaired or for other accommodations for persons with disabilities should be made at least 48 hours before the meeting to Barbara Folawn, 503-378-5555 ext. 233, TTY 503-378-5938.
