About Ellen F. Rosenblum
Oregon's No Call program is currently preempted by federal law. The program was terminated as of October 1, 2003. This was due to the State Legislature's failure to pass legislation necessary to permit the Oregon Attorney General to merge the state list with the national list as required by Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules.
Those consumers who previously registered their number on the Oregon No Call List must re-register on the National Registry. Oregon consumers can register on the National Registry for free at any time and will notice a drop in telemarketing calls approximately three months after the date they register.
Oregon's Attorney General Hardy Myers suggests that Oregonians not only register their home telephone number but also register any cell phone numbers used by the family. Remember, when registering by phone, you must call from the phone number you wish to register.
Oregonians wanting to register with the National Registry may call toll-free 1-888-382-1222 or online at www.donotcall.gov.
