When you imagine a “survivor” a clear picture might come to mind. That picture is probably of a “good survivor”- someone who has never used physical violence, doesn’t use substances, has a specific kind of job, etc. What do you do when survivorship looks a little messier, or in any other ways strays from our previous understandings? These questions often arise in the assessment process and pose unique challenges for advocates in responding. Join Northwest Network Advocates in exploring the moments when survivors use physical violence, people who cause harm leverage their own vulnerable identities, and the story we’re hearing looks more complicated than what we may have thought.
Presenters: Maya Perez and Elizabeth Bringier, the NW Network of Bi, Trans, Lesbian and Gay Survivors of Abuse
