Join Alexxis and Jaxyn in partnership with OCADSV to explore the potential of healthcare partnerships and advocacy with LGBTQ+ survivors. We will review the basics of LGBTQ+ advocacy, and review statistics and research surrounding the prevalence of violence and intersecting health issues, as well as examples of resilience of those most impacted within this community. We will discuss complex trauma and oppression facing LGBTQ+ communities, as well as give examples of advocacy within agencies and healthcare settings to improve the experiences and increase accessibility to services for LGBTQ+ survivors. Facilitators will also include tools for allyship and reflection within their direct practice with survivors.
