In this 5-day Specialist Interview Course, participants will learn to use behavior analysis insights into perpetrators of sexual crimes against children to inform the creation and implementation of effective interview strategies. By understanding how and why sexual abuse takes place, those working at the front line of child protection are better placed to intervene and safeguard the most vulnerable in society. Providing child protection through a greater understanding of how sex offenders operate is the ethos behind the Mentor Interview Technique. This comprehensive specialist interview system has been specifically designed to enhance the skills and knowledge base of those professionals who interview child sex offenders in the course of law enforcement investigations, child protection evaluations and risk assessment and/or management of offenders.

Target Audience:  This course provides core knowledge and skills for those whose work involves interviewing or meeting with sex offenders.  It is particularly relevant to law enforcement, parole and probation, social workers, prosecutors, child protective services, medical professionals.  The content will also be beneficial to those engaged in assessments (medical, interviewing, intervention programs, investigation and/or risk management.

Instructor Name: Dr. Joe Sullivan, PhD

Cost: $525 (due to a generous grant provided by the Children’s Justice Act Task Force of Oregon, a portion of the costs have been paid for Oregon professionals) for law enforcement professionals, parole and probation officers, child protective service workers, treatment professionals, child assessment center professionals, and District Attorneys who work in Oregon.  $750 for out-of-state professionals in the same fields.
