Overview: Older survivors can face unique barriers in obtaining and enforcing protection orders against their abuser(s). In conjunction with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2018, NCPOFFC and NCALL are pleased to offer a webinar to discuss survivor-centered strategies for advocates and attorneys who are working with older victims as they navigate the court system. This webinar will include tips and best practices to apply while preparing to seek a protection order, during court appearances, and after an order is granted.
About the Presenters: Millicent Shaw Phipps is the Managing Attorney for The National Center on Protection Orders and Full Faith & Credit (NCPOFFC). In addition to providing training and responding to technical assistance requests, she supervises daily operations, directs strategic planning for the project, oversees the completion of grant objectives, and manages project staff and consultants. Before assuming her current position, Millicent was a staff attorney at the American Prosecutors Research Institute, the research, training and technical assistance division of the National District Attorneys Association. She is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Law and licensed in the states of Maryland and Washington. Who Should Enroll: This webinar is open to advocates, attorneys, and anyone who is interested in learning more about older survivors, victim safety, and legal advocacy. |
