Attorney General John Kroger today alerted Oregon consumers that their opportunity to use any KB Toys, Inc. store credit and unredeemed gift cards will expire in less than a week.

KB Toys, Inc., which is liquidating all of its stores under the supervision of the United States Bankruptcy Court in Delaware, has estimated that there are 12 million unused gift cards outstanding

KB has notified the Oregon Department of Justice that no KB Toys stores in Oregon or Washington will honor gift cards and merchandise credits after the close of business on January 11, 2009. Most KB Toys stores across the country stopped accepting gift cards as of January 1, 2009.

The company has agreed to several additional terms to protect consumers in connection with its store closing sales, including a promise that it will honor all manufacturers’ warranties and accept returns of defective merchandise sold during the store closing sales.

Oregon stores are located in the Lincoln City, Seaside, Woodburn, and Troutdale outlet malls. The Washington stores include outlet stores in Centralia and North Bend, and a retail store in the Vancouver Mall.
