OPERATION INTERNET ANGEL RESULTS IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY ARRESTS ACROSS OREGON

A multi-agency child pornography investigation dubbed Operation Internet Angel resulted in 15 arrests across Oregon during a two-week span.

“Every child pornography image and video file is evidence of the sexual abuse of a child. The people who possess and trade child pornography encourage the exploitation and abuse of children by creating a market for it,” said Attorney General Kroger. “I want to thank all the law enforcement partners who participated in this critical operation.”

The effort was coordinated by the Oregon Department of Justice Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force to combat online child exploitation. ICAC worked closely with law enforcement agencies and district attorney’s offices throughout the state to conduct investigations and disrupt and dismantle child predators and their networks.

The coordinated, two-week raid was conducted to take advantage strong agency cooperation and also to highlight the fact that child pornography is a major problem throughout the state.

During a two week period from October 16 through October 28, 2011 Operation Internet Angel produced the following results:

  • 15 arrests
  • 30 search warrants served
  • 49 investigations
  • 87 computers seized
  • 35 suspects
  • 99 external hard drives seized
  • 1 rescued children
  • 6 sex offenders contacted

Arrests were reported by the Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Unit, Task Force INTERCEPT, Portland Police Bureau Innocent Images Task Force, Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Monmouth Police Department and the Corvallis Police Department.
