Catalin voda Dulfu, 54, was sentenced Monday to 15 years in prison after the Eugene resident was convicted two weeks ago of multiple counts of first- and second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse.

Dulfu was found guilty by a jury in Lane County Circuit Court of 15 counts of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse and 15 counts of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse.

Dulfu was also fined $5,000. The money will go to a fund established for a young victim who appeared in some of the images found in Dulfu’s possession..

The investigation began in October 2011. The jury issued its guilty verdict after more than three hours of deliberation.

The prosecution was led by the Oregon Department of Justice. The department’s Criminal Justice division includes an Internet Crimes Against Children unit, which investigates and prosecutes traffickers of child pornography. Last month, the department indicted a Lincoln City man on similar charges.

Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum thanked lead prosecutor Michael Slauson and ICAC special agents Page McBeth and Mark Posler for their work on the case.
