About Ellen F. Rosenblum
Responsibility For Douglas County Child Support Services Will Transfer To Department Of Justice Division Of Child Support
Division's Roseburg Office Will Provide Services Beginning July 1, 2008
Attorney General Hardy Myers today announced that effective July 1, 2008 responsibility for all child support services in Douglas County will be transferred from the Douglas County District Attorney's office to the Oregon Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Child Support (DCS); services will be provided to Douglas County child support customers beginning July 1, 2008 by DOJ's DCS office in Roseburg. The office is located at 2440 NW Troost Street, Suite 100 in Roseburg.
"Contrary to at least one published report, all cases being served by the Douglas County District Attorney will be served by DCS' Roseburg office," Myers said. "No customer will be required to go outside Douglas County to obtain a continuation of services."
The decision to transfer responsibility for services to DCS was made by DOJ and Douglas County officials after the county determined it had insufficient financial resources to continue administering the program through the District Attorney's office located in Roseburg. Douglas County will join nine counties whose child support program is administered solely by DCS.
The civil service employees who handled child support cases in the District Attorney's office will be offered positions in DOJ, within the Roseburg DCS office or elsewhere.
Douglas County child support customers will be sent notices about their specific case transfer. Information will also be available at www.dcs.state.or.us.
