May 29, 2009

James Gabriel, doing business as Florence Hearth & Patio, must pay more than $8,000 in restitution and attorney fees

Attorney General John Kroger today announced a settlement that requires an unlicensed Florence contractor that installed and repaired wood stoves to pay restitution to six customers and cease doing work as a contractor unless licensed.

James Gabriel, doing business as Florence Hearth & Patio, must pay $3,900 in restitution to 6 customers and $4,400 in attorney fees.

Gabriel can no longer work as a contractor in Oregon until licensed by the state Construction Contractors Board. An investigation by the Construction Contractors Board regarding Gabriel's unlawful conduct led to the lawsuit.
