The Oregon State Victim Assistance Basic Academy (Basic Academy) provides fundamental education for victim service providers and allied professionals who routinely interact with victims of crime. The Basic Academy will require online distance learning on select dates in January and February, in addition to in-person learning from February 12-15, 2018. This 3 1/2 day, comprehensive training teaches the Oregon Interviewing Guidelines Forensic Interview Structure, which is designed to gather the greatest amount of reliable information in a child-sensitive, developmentally-appropriate, and legally-defensible manner. The Oregon Child Forensic Interview Training is evidence-based, supported by current research, and approved by the National Children’s Alliance to meet the Forensic Interview Training Standards. This training is typically attended by Center-Based child forensic interviewers, Law Enforcement, and DHS professionals.
