Public Meetings Toolkit

Oregon’s Public Meetings Law promotes democracy and transparency. Oregonians have a right to have governing bodies deliberate and decide matters openly in public and to understand how and why decisions are made. This toolkit helps governing bodies understand their obligations, helps the public understand how to make sure governing bodies are complying with public meeting law, and provides links and resources for commonly asked questions.

Attorney General Opinions

Attorney General Opinions are written explanations of how the law applies to a specific question asked by a public official. Once issued, these opinions represent the State of Oregon’s legal position and help government officials understand complex legal issues and make decisions that comply with the law. They are also an important resource to help Oregonians understand key public law topics.
