Attorney General’s Public Law Conference

The Oregon Attorney General’s Public Law Conference was first held in 1997 and has since evolved into a key event for state agency representatives. Its primary purpose is to update participants on the latest legal, regulatory, and policy issues relevant to public law. The event is organized by the General Counsel Division.

The PLC serves as a training and networking opportunity for attorneys and other professionals working with public agencies. In addition to the main sessions, workshops tailored to specific audiences, such as lay representatives, and individuals involved in rulemaking and rule writing are also offered.

The event also focuses on emerging challenges faced by employees of the state. Recent conferences have addressed contemporary topics like public records transparency, administrative law reforms, privacy issues and supervising remote workers. The conference regularly updates its attendees on changes in state legislation and compliance requirements. Keynote speakers typically include prominent legal figures and experts in public law. The conference occurs bi-annually with training being provided online and at the Salem Convention Center, providing ample opportunity for state-wide agency participation.

The next conference will occur in 2027.

Coming Soon! For a small fee, recordings from the 2025 Attorney General’s Public Law Conference will be available to view in the coming months.
