About

The CVI Grantee Summit is a training and networking event. All grantees that receive CVI funding from CVSSD must attend.

We are looking for you to send two people, one of whom is an administrator (i.e. executive director, COO). We also welcome program managers, financial staff, and Board of Directors to attend.

Welcome

We are excited to see you at the  Community Violence Intervention (CVI) Grantee Summit.  This will be a time for everyone to come together to connect and strengthen relationships that support you in the difficult work you do. It will also be a time to recognize your work. These two days will provide an opportunity for us to train together and explore ways to increase access for the people you serve. We will also provide information to support you in managing your grant funds and build a common understanding of our funding requirements.

We know this will bring value for you and your programs. See you there!

Summary

The Oregon Department of Justice (DOJ), Crime Victim and Survivor Services Division (CVSSD) is hosting the Community Violence Intervention Grantee Summit on May 14-15, 2024 at the Salem Convention Center.

The summit is striving to be paper-free. Please check the bottom of this page for handouts and slide decks that you can print ahead of time if needed.

Your experience is important to us. Please let us know if you have questions, or if there is anything we can do to support your participation.

Experience

Your experience at the Summit is important to us. The information below may be helpful for your planning.

What to Expect

The Salem Convention Center offers complimentary wireless internet access and gender inclusive bathrooms. Free underground parking is available at The Grand Hotel in Salem.

Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the venue. Smoking is permitted outside in designated areas only.

The Summit includes an Affinity Space located near the ballroom. This is a space specifically set aside so that people can connect with others who share their identities. We will share more information about this space on the first day of the Summit.

We will be tracking attendance. Each morning you will sign in at the registration table. Please allow time for checking in which begins at 8:00am.

When checking in on the first day, you will receive a name badge with lanyard that includes your first and last name, organization, city, and county as well as pronouns (if included in registration). If you would like your name badge to include different information than what was provided in your registration, please contact Amanda VanTil | 503-378-6870 | email.

We will provide coffee, tea, and water until 2:00 p.m. each day. We encourage you to bring your reusable cups to reduce waste. Breakfast and lunch are provided on both days. No outside food is permitted in the conference center.

Accessibility

We are committed to providing accessible materials and programming at all our events.

This venue is wheelchair accessible. Accessible parking areas, pathways, and entrances to the buildings are available.

Evaluation

We value your feedback about this event. We hope you will participate in one of our listening sessions after the summit to share your experience. This helps us understand what to do better and ways to improve.

Travel Information

We are prepared to assist you with the travel expenses for up to two Summit travelers from your organization. We will accomplish this by adding the necessary funds to your grant budget.  To do this, you will need to complete a CVI Grantee Summit Travel Budget form via a budget amendment in Egrants. The form and instructions have been previously emailed to you. If you need it again, please contact your designated Grant Fund Coordinator. Please note, the request for funds must be submitted no later than February 28, 2024.

Your Grant Fund Coordinator will review the budget amendment request and, once approved, will add the funds to your budget. This will happen sometime between January and March 2024. Completion of this process will cause a payment to be issued for the amount of the approved budget amendment.

We have booked a small number of rooms at The Grand Hotel in Salem at a discount rate of $139/night plus tax for a deluxe king or double queen room. When reserving your room, let them know you are part of the CVI summit.
